15. JAMES3 BREWER (Patriot) (GEORGE2, GEORGE1) was born about 1736 in Brunswick Co, Virginia. He died Jan 1816 in Brunswick Co, Virginia. He married ANN (WIGGINS?) about 1757. She died before 1816.
PROOF OF PARENTAGE -

Deed Bk 6, p. 176 , Brunswick Co., VA. Land Gift, 1757 names James as son of George Jr

BIRTH DATE SOURCE

He was probably 21 years old when his father gave him land in 1757, the contract for which is given below.

LAND DEED FROM JAMES' FATHER -

1757 Deed gift, George Brewer to James Brewer, his son:

MILITARY SERVICE -

There was a James Brewer who was a Patriot in the Revolutionary War, serving in Captain Arthur Smith's Company G, 4th Virginia Regiment. This regiment gathered some of its men from Brunswick, Isle of Wright and Surry Counties. There is a payroll document (image ➚) which lists pay due deceased soldiers, on which James Brewer's name appears for the period of 1777-1778, but I don't know the date of the roll. Ben Brewer suggested this was the correct James Brewer. Knowing the date of the roll would have helped prove this, as it would have to be from 1816 or later to show the right man, for him to be deceased. The government stopped paying soldiers in 1777 because the Continental had severely declined in value. From reading pension papers for other soldiers, it seems common that they never received any monetary compensation at all. The first pension act was not created until 1818, so it is possibly that this record was from this time period, if the government thought it necessary to go through its military records to determine who was still owed back-pay. If the payroll document is from during the war, it is the wrong James Brewer, since he didn't die until 1816.

DEATH DATE -

Source - James Brewer's will, written 27 Jul 1815 and proved 26 Jan 1816 in Brunswick County, Virginia. (I need to find this record or a transcription of it.) I am guessing that the conclusion that his wife died before 1816 was reached because she was not mentioned in the final estate records. However, I have not seen them, so I cannot say for certain.

WIFE'S MAIDEN NAME -

Ann's maiden name is assumed to be Wiggins. This is because her and James' son, Lewis, had a son named Lewis Wiggins Brewer Jr, resulting in the conclusion that Lewis Jr and Sr both had the same middle name. It was common to give a child the maiden name of his mother, as a middle name.

16. JOHN3 BREWER (GEORGE2, GEORGE1) was born about 1737. He died about 24 Jul 1826 in Meherrin Parish, Brunswick County, Virginia. He married BETHIA MORRIS, daughter of THOMAS MORRIS. They may have moved to Hancock County, Georgia in the 1780's. She may have died before 1810. John owned slaves, if he is the same John Brewer who was later back in Brunswick County, Virginia.
JOHN'S INHERITANCE -

Portion of his father's will (1760) -

I give and Bequeath unto my son John Brewer my Tract of Land Situate on the North side of the Beaver Pond Creek, Containing two hundred & Twenty Acres, also Two Hundred and Forty five Acres the Lower part of another Tract on the said Creek Containing four Hundred and ninety Acres Beginning at the mouth of the Ready branch and thence to the Back line to include the aforesaid Quantity to Give Him and his Heirs forever likewise I give unto my said son John my Negro girl Patt and five sheep to him and his Heirs forever.

JOHN'S BECAME GUARDIAN TO 2 OF HIS SIBLINGS AND A NIECE BETWEEN 1765 AND 1773 -

In 1765 he began filing an annual accounting of his estate to the court concerning the guardianship of two of his siblings, Henry and Abigail. It could be assumed that their mother had passed away (their father had already died in 1760), leaving the under-aged children orphans. The first year it was for Henry and Abigail, and in 1766 for Henry, Abigail and Rebecca (his niece). By 1770 Henry was no longer included, suggesting that he had reach the age of 21 or had married. The following year Abigail was also excluded, which probably suggests that she had married as well, leaving only Rebecca in John's care. By 1773, she too was dropped from the records.

JOHN'S WILL -

In his will, written 16 May 1825 and proved 24 Jul 1826 in Brunswick County (I need to find this!), he left 1 cow and calf, 1 bed, furniture and household items to Lucy and gave his executor the authority to sell the rest of his estate and distribute it between his nephews - Yerby and Willie Brewer (sons of Jesse), and William and Lewis Brewer (sons of James). From this it has been concluded that he and Lucy did not have any children, or at least none that had survived. This, as well as being the eldest son, might have made him a good candidate for obtaining guardianship of his young siblings after their parents' deaths.

17. WILLIAM3 BREWER (GEORGE2, GEORGE1) was born about 1738 in Virginia and likely died in Wilkes County, Georgia. He married ANNE.
WILLIAM'S INHERITANCE -

Portion of his father's will (1760) -

I give and Bequeath unto my Son Wm Brewer all that part of the Tract of land I now live on, on the north side of the Falling River granted me by patent Bearing Date the eighth day of September one Thousand Seven Hundred and Twenty-Eight, also one Hundred and fifty Acres adjoining the Lower part of said Tract of Land Beginning at the mouth of a small creek on the north side of the Falling River at the upper end of the great Meadow and thence to my back line to include the aforesaid Quantity, also my Negro man Peter, my Horse Ball, and one young man and one Feather Bed and furniture to him and his Heirs forever.

LAND GRANT IN GEORGIA -

On 6 Feb 1786 William Brewer was granted 180 acres in Wilkes County, Georgia. Quite a few of the Brewers had formed a convoy of wagons and herds, and moved to this promising, though perilous, region from southern Virginia in 1784. Whether he traveled with them, I do not know. His brother, George, also received a grant in Georgia (Washington and Franklin Counties) after the Revolutionary War, which is in the same general vicinity. John is still found in Virginia in 1810, so he might have sold the grant, or else it was for a different man by the same name.

18. SARAH3 BREWER (GEORGE2, GEORGE1) was born about 1740 in Brunswick County, Virginia. Sarah married MR. VINCENT 16 Aug 1760 in Brunswick County, Virginia.
SARAH'S INHERITANCE -

Portion of her father's will (1760) -
I give unto my Daughter Sarah Vincent one Negro Girl named Lucy, one Cow and Calf and Two Sheep to her and her Heirs forever.

19. GEORGE3 BREWER III (Patriot) (GEORGE2, GEORGE1) was born about 1743 in Brunswick County, Virginia. He died on 14 Jun 1802. George married SYNTHA, who died after 1786.
GEORGE'S INHERITANCE -

Portion of his father's will (1760) -

I give and Bequeath unto my son George Brewer Two Hundred and forty five Acres of Land on the Beaver Pond Creek the upper part of my Tract Containing four Hundred and Ninety Beginning at the Mouth of Ready branch and thence to the back line to include lake, my Negro Boy Will, one Cow and Calf and five Sheep to him and his Heirs forever.

MILITARY SERVICE -

George was a Patriot in the Revolutionary War, and thereafter drew bounty land in Washington and Franklin Counties in Georgia. This area, in the Oconee River region, was wrought with Indian troubles at this time, and the majority of the settlers lived in guarded forts, out of necessity. This was probably his lot at some points as well, particularly in the spring of each year, when raids were most prevalent. It is probable that he was part of the local militia and, thus, involved in skirmished with the Creek Indians from time to time.

GEORGE'S WILL -

His will was written 14 Jun 1802. This might have been in Green County, Georgia, since the last of his children were born there, assuming that he still lived there and that there was a probate court in that frontier region then.
George3 Brewer III and Syntha had the following children.
24 F x. REBECCA3 BREWER was born about 1750 (or 1760?). She died before 23 Feb 1810.
20. ELIZABETH3 BREWER (GEORGE2, GEORGE1) was born about 1744.
ELIZABETH'S INHERITANCE -

Portion of her father's will (1760) -

I give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Brewer my Negro Wench Hannah to her and her Heirs forever.

21. JESSE3 BREWER (WILLIAM2, GEORGE1) was born about 1745 in Brunswick County, Virginia. He died Jul 1800 in Brunswick County, Virginia. Jesse married SUSANNAH about 1774 in Brunswick County, Virginia. She was born about 1757 and died after 1800.
JESSE'S WILL -

Written June 28, 1800 proved July 28, 1800 in Brunswick County, Virginia (names his children). If the will mentions his wife, Susannah, this would explain the death estimate for her. I still need to obtain a copy of the will.

22 M viii. HENRY3 BREWER (GEORGE2, GEORGE1) was born about 1746.
HENRY'S INHERITANCE -

Portion of his father's will (1760) -

I give and Bequeath unto my son Henry Brewer all that ... of that Tract of Land. Whereon I live which lies on the South of the Falling river, also one Hundred and Thirty Acres of Land the Lower part of a Tract adjoining the Land I live on also my Negro boy Jacob, and one Feather Bed and furniture to him and his Heirs forever.

ORPHANED BY THE AGE OF 19 -

Henry was an orphan and was under the guardianship of his brother, John Brewer from 1765 to 1767 (see note under John's section above). This might be how his birth date was estimated, since he was 21 by the end of 1767, or at least before the orphan records were filed again in 1768.

23 F ix. ABIGAIL3 BREWER (GEORGE2, GEORGE1) was born about 1748.
ABIGAIL'S INHERITANCE -

Portion of her father's will (1760) -

I give unto my Daughter Abigail brewer my Negro Wench Milley to her and her Heirs forever.

ORPHANED BY THE AGE OF 17 -

She was an orphan, under the guardianship of her brother, John Brewer from 1765 to before 1770 (see note under John's section above). This would indicate that she was 21 or had married before the orphan records were filed again in 1770.

Descendants of Lanier Brewer Sr and Joanna

35. LANIER3 BREWER JR (LANIER SR2, GEORGE1) was born about 1746 in Brunswick County, Virginia. He died in 1824 in North Carolina. Lanier married REBECCA NARCISES, Cherokee Indian. She was born about 1768 in Virginia.
Also in Chatham County around the time of the Revolution (and in neighboring Moore County), was a large group of closely-related men named "Brewer," now known from yDNA evidence to be closely-related to our ancestor Jacob White  and his descendants. Among these Brewers was a man named "Lanier Brewer Jr." who was born in 1746, and who is reputed (according to family tradition) to have fathered no less than 30 sons and 3 daughters by two wives and an Indian concubine of the 'Tucky-hoe' (Tuckahoe) tribe (now known as 'Lumbee').

37. JOHN3 BREWER (Patriot) (HOWELL SR2, GEORGE1) was born about 1738 in Brunswick (formerly Surry) County, Virginia. He died in May 1824 in Chatham (formerly Orange) County, North Carolina. John married AMEY MEREDITH of Brunswick County, Virginia about 1758 in Orange (later Chatham) County, North Carolina. AMEY was born about 1734 in Brunswick County, Virginia.
It sounds like he was a Lieutenant of the Chatham County Regiment (North Carolina) from 1780 to 1781. A known battle he was in as a Lieutenant was the Battle of Camden in South Carolina, after which both he and Isaac Brewer were captured by the British. (John had taken his nephew, Isaac, to war with him)

On the Tuesday after the second Monday of August, 1824, the report of the commission was returned to the Court. The division of the lands of John Brewer, dated 11 June 1824, was ordered. Lot #1, 30 acres, was assigned to Nathan Brewer; Lot #2, 34 acres, was assigned to Polly Brewer; Lot #3, 25 acres, was assigned to Amos Brewer; Lot #4, 38 acres, was assigned to Thomas Moore's heirs: Lot #5, 33 acres, was assigned to Martha Fesmire/Phismire.

"It appears from census records of Chatham County, North Carolina, 1790-1810, that John Brewer, Sr. had six sons and six daughters. Five sons have been identified. Three sons would have been born after 1774 since he had three sons under age 16 in 1790. In a receipt from the state of North Carolina, Chatham County, John Brewer was paid four pounds, seventeen shillings, specie for fodder and sheaves of oats by act of assembly in such cases made. This is dated May 19, 1782.

"The settling of John Brewers estate by his son Nathan, who was the administrator, was recorded in Chatham County, North Carolina and was noted as follows: "Know all Men by these Presents, that Nathan Brewer, John Bray and John Deaton made payment of five hundred dollars to Thomas Clegg, Chairman, or other Justices of the County of Chatham to bind themselves, their Heirs, Executors and Administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these Presents. Sealed with our seals and dated this 10th day of May 1824. 38. HOWELL3 BREWER JR (Patriot) (HOWELL SR2, GEORGE1) was born about 1742 in Brunswick County, Virginia. He died before 1851 in Western Tennessee. Howell married ELIZABETH? daughter of ISAAC? about 1761 in Wilkes County, Georgia. She was born about 1743 in Brunswick County, Virginia. She died after 1779 in Chatham County, North Carolina or Hancock County, Georgia. He later married a second unknown wife.
Howell's first wife's name was estimated by the naming custom of 2nd daughter being named after father's mother. His son, Isaac's first daughter might have been Nancy, but we know he had a daughter named Elizabeth (his 2nd daughter?). It's a stretch, but I'll include it here as a reminder to do additional research on the matter. In the pension file of Howell's son, Isaac Brewer, it is also stated in 1851 that Howell had previously remarried and had children this second wife, and that he and his second family were living in Western Tennessee at the time of his death. The marriage might have taken place in Orange or Chatham County, North Carolina, Hancock County, Georgia or in Western Tennessee. The date is unknown.

1767 - moved to Bedford County, Virginia

1768/9 - left Bedford County, Virginia and moved to Chatham County, North Carolina

1768 - still lived in Chatham County, North Carolina.

1772 - he was in the militia in Chatham County, North Carolina with his father (he was in the Revolutionary War as well, as was his son Isaac Brewer)

Between 1779-1781 - served in North Carolina militia (as stated by his son Isaac Brewer who said that he served with him. This is the approximate years that Isaac served, so Howell Brewer Jr had to have served sometime during this same period. During this time Isaac lived in Chatham and Orange Counties I think, so Howell would have lived in this area as well.)

1785 - in Randolph County, North Carolina

1789 - he signed a petition in Randolph Co, North Carolina for centering of the county's public buildings

1790 - census - Randolph County, North Carolina  with 3 males over 16 and 8 females

1795 - was in tax returns of Hancock County, Georgia with quite a few other Brewer family members including his son Isaac and brother John

1805 - there was a Howell Brewer who was on a list with many other Brewers including Isaac, Barrett, D, David, Drury, Edmond, Elisha, George, George Jr, George Sr, Henry, another Henry, Horatio G, James, James Jr, James Sr, Joel, John, Joseph, Mary, another Mary, Mathew, Nathan, Polly, Rebecca, Rowland, Samuel, Simon, William, and William B Brewer who were registered for the 1805 Georgia Land Lottery. Those drawn were Drury, James, James Jr, Joel, John, Mathew, and Rowland Brewer

39. WILLIAM "BILL"3 BREWER (Patriot) (HOWELL SR2, GEORGE1) was born about 1752 in Brunswick County, Virginia (was 80 by 10 Aug 1832). He died on 14 Feb 1837 in near Marysville, Blount County, Tennessee. William married SARAH (ASBURY?) about 1788 in Chatham County, North Carolina. She died after 1837 in Blount County, Tennessee.
William was about 80 yrs old 10 Aug 1832 when he applied for a pension from Blount County, Tennessee. He mentioned John Brewer as an officer (Lieutenant), could have been his brother, but who knows. He stated that he moved to Orange County, the part which later became Chatham County, North Carolina when a small boy, and that he moved from NC to SC in 1796 where he lived 6 or 7 years and then moved to Blount County, Tennessee in 1802/3. In the Tennessee Pension Roll of 1835 it is stated that he was a private in the North Carolina Line, that he received $30 per year, that his pension started 12 Nov 1832, and that he received 3 payments so far as of that record when he was 82 years old.

Ambrose married JOANNA or LUCINDA RUSSELL of North Carolina, daughter of GEORGE "OLD MAN" RUSSELL, about 1778 in North Carolina. She was born about 1753 possibly in Ashe County, North Carolina and died in 1784. Ambrose also married MARY OMA RICHARDSON about 1780 in Cumberland County, North Carolina. She was born in 1761 in Moore County, North Carolina. She died on 15 Apr 1847 in War Creek, Hancock County, Tennessee.
Ambrose was a Revolutionary War soldier under Colonel Cleveland at the Battle of King's Mountain in Catawba County, North Carolina

Ambrose was a "faithful upright though poor Citizen" who was born in Virginia, lived in North Carolina when called into the service, and later moved to Tennessee where he remained for the rest of his life.  He was 101 yrs old when applied for pension 30 Oct 1854.

This record states that they were married 13 Apr 1772 in North Carolina, but that her last name was Brown at the time, so maybe this was her second marriage or, more likely, it was transcribed incorrectly. I have seen Brewer transcribed as Brown on more than one occasion.

42. JAMES3 BREWER (HOWELL SR2, GEORGE1) born 1755 in Orange Co, North Carolina. He died in Tennessee.

Descendants of Howell Brewer Sr and Marian May

43. ORVILLE3 BREWER (HOWELL SR2, GEORGE1) was born 1757 in Brunswick Co, VA or Orange Co, NC.

44.POLLY3 BREWER (HOWELL SR2, GEORGE1) was born 1759 in Haw River, Orange Co, NC. Polly married Mr. Pope.

45. HENRY3 BREWER (Patriot) (HOWELL SR2, GEORGE1) was born in 1760 in Haw River, Orange County, North Carolina. He died after 5 Sep 1837 in Wilson County, Tennessee. Henry married SARAH HAWK about 1774 in North Carolina. She was born about 1763. She died after 1837 in Wilson County, Tennessee.
Henry might have been from Howell Brewer Sr's 2nd marriage to Marian May instead of his 1st with Rebecca Willis.

Henry lived in Christian County (south of Hopkins County), Kentucky when he applied for a pension, 5 Jul 1819. There is a Henry Brewer who was listed as one of the early settlers of Christian County, settled early on from people from North and South Carolina and a few from Virginia. There was also a Henry Brewer who got a land grant there for Revolutionary War service in the Virginia Continental Line. I had thought this was the same man, but they served in different units, one from North Carolina and one from Virginia who served as a drummer.

He served in the North Carolina Continental Line during the Revolutionary War. He enlisted 12 May 1777, served as a private in Captain James Wilson's Company, Colonel Abraham Shepard's Company and Colonel Clark's Company, North Carolina Regiments, and was discharged Aug 1781. In 1823 he was 63 and his wife was 60, had a son age 21, daughter age 14, son age 10 or 11, and a daughter age 8. He likely had other children, perhaps older ones that lived on their own in Wilson County since that is why he moved there - to be closer to his children for the rest of his days. He wouldn't have needed to move if his only children were those young enough to already be living with him. He was very poor, but had good moral character. He was a farmer by trade, but had a back problem which made him unable to work. At 60 years old, his wife was too frail to work also. He moved to Wilson County, West Tennessee where he intended to remain and wanted his pension transferred to there. He moved there to be closer to his children for the rest of his days.

46. ISAAC3 BREWER (HOWELL SR2, GEORGE1) was born about 1764 in Wilkes County, Georgia (wrong? North Carolina instead?) He died in Hardman County, Tennessee? (Not the same as the Isaac Brewer that died in Silver Run, Talladega County, Alabama 25 May 1852. He was the son of Howell Brewer Jr)
The following are options I have considered as to Isaac’s identity –

1) He has been confused with Isaac Brewer, son of Howell Brewer Jr, and is a duplicate that just needs to be deleted as a son of Howell Brewer Sr.

2) He was actually a second Isaac Brewer, son of Howell Brewer Sr. If this is the case, he could be the Isaac who married Elizabeth “Betsy” Strong, daughter of slave owner Johnson Strong (Patriot) and Mary Ann unknown. She was born on 22 Mar 1778 in Hanover County, Virginia and would have grown up in a slave owning home. I will leave that as a possible scenario for now, though I have a hunch that I should adhere to option 1 instead. Another possibility as to which Isaac married Betsy, is that it was the son of John3 Brewer (Howell Sr2, George1) and Amey Meredith, or else another Isaac who was a son of Henry Lanier2 Brewer (George1) and Mary unknown. The latter suggestion was given by another researcher who believes that the birth estimates of George's children are inaccurate because the reason for the order in which the children in George1's will are listed was misinterpreted. This would make it possible for the latter Isaac to be of an appropriate age compared to Betsy.

Lucy married CAPTAIN JOHN MEBANE (Patriot), son of Alexander Mebane I (Signer of the Regulator petition of 1768 - Image ➚, 1789 Will - Image ➚) John was born in 1757 (age 76 in 1833) along the Haw River at Haw Old Fields (now Hawfields), Orange (now Alamance) County, North Carolina. John Mebane was in the Orange County Militia during the Revolutionary War. It was said of him in his pension file that, when he was put in prison at Hillsborough, North Carolina the 12th of September, 1781, he danced across the floor! I guess he had a bit of a sense of humor! His brother, Alexander Jr, for whom Mebane, North Carolina was named, barely avoided being captured by leaving a very valuable horse to distract the Tories at Hillsborough, while fading into the tall weeds on foot back home to Hawfields to alert the Whigs.
Later that afternoon, after the Tories pillaged the town, the prisoners were moved to a British-occupied Wilmington, North Carolina and imprisoned on a ship. However, another of John Mebane's brothers, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Mebane of the Continental Army ➚, was alerted of John's capture by their father, and Robert soon negotiated John's paroled so that he might return home to Orange County. The other prisoners were taken to South Carolina and kept there for quite some time. Robert was in the Battle of Lindley's Mill around this time. After negotiating John's parole, but before the release actually took please, Robert was killed, Oct 1781, in Williams Twp, Chatham County, North Carolina by a Tory. John later became a militia Colonel. The link to the above write-up on Robert also states that John married the widow of a fellow prisoner who did not survive the trip home. I don't know if this was Lucy Brewer or a previous or subsequent wife. John applied for a pension 30 Mar 1833 in Chatham County, North Carolina. John's pension file states that he died 13 Sep 1837 and that the executor of his will was James Mebane. (Pension Application #S9403 - Transcription ➚ and Images ➚)

William also married ELIZABETH HOLMAN about 1780 in South Carolina. Elizabeth was born about 1759 in South Carolina. She died in 1800.
He was 1st Lieutenant of South Carolina troops, and swore this to be true 7 Jun 1784.

A story on his great grandson, Willis Brewer, says that he was of Welsh ancestry. In a letter written by the same Willis Brewer, he states that William Brewer lived on one side of the Savannah River (probably in South Carolina) in the early 1800's. "With a rifle on his shoulder he walked alone through Georgia and Alabama, then occupied mostly by Indians, to Washington County (Washington Co, Alabama which is south Sumter Co?). He left there to return home and was never heard from after. He had three sons, Matthew, Willis, and Williams." Willis fought in the Battle of Autussee. Matthew had three sons (one of whom I think was Thomas J who died in Sumter County, Alabama and George W Brewer who was a merchant in Brewersville, Sumter, Alabama which was named after him. George had two surviving sons named Robert W. Brewer and Captain T. C. Brewer) Matthew Brewer went westward and has been lost track of.

  1. James Brewer (d. 1816) was not in the Revolutionary War. Check the DAR records and it can be seen that the military record sent in for this James Brewer belonged to a James Brewer who died by 1778. No one can gain entry to the society through this line anymore. Also, the Lewis Brewer shown in the lineage still lived in Brunswick County though the applicants showed him as living in Tennessee. It has been proven that Ben Brewer's ancestor Lewis Brewer was not the son of James Brewer who died in 1816. James' son Lewis married his cousin Dorothy Brewer and lived his whole life in Brunswick, dying in 1853. He had no children. James' wife was not named Lydia Wiggans. That was from Ben Brewer's line (which is not the line of James Brewer who died in 1816). All of this is proven through records in Brunswick County.

George Brewer II did have a son named James as proven by the 1757 deed though it is unclear as to what became of him though he obviously died early. James who died in 1816 is the proven son of William Brewer (George I).

John Brewer who died in 1826 in Brunswick was not the son of George II and Abigail Wyche. Their son John, who was married to Thomas and Boyce Morris' daughter Bethiah died in 1798 in Hancock County, Georgia. The John who died in 1826 was the proven son of William Brewer (George I). He did not show with any children; estate after debts left to four nephews (after cow and some furniture was left to Lucy Massie): William and Lewis, sons of James (d. 1816) and Yerby and Willie (sons of Jesse Brewer, d. 1800). Nephew William Brewer (1788-1867) purchased the land of John Brewer (d. 1826) after John's death. This land had been given to John in 1777 by brother William Brewer who was the heir-at-law of William Brewer, deceased. Some of nephew William Brewer's family still own a piece of this land today. William (1788-1867) left this land after the death of his daughter Nancy to three of his grandsons. My great-grandfather John W. Brewer and his brother William P. Brewer inherited part of this land but sold their portion. A third grandson of William Brewer (1788-1867) was James Carpenter. Some of his family still own a portion of the land. The land is on the south side of Rattlesnake Creek in southeastern Brunswick County, Va.

George Brewer III, son of George II, died shortly after his father and left a wife and daughter, Rebecca. It is not known who is wife was. Estate records and guardian records prove this.

Jesse Brewer (d. 1800) was the son of William Brewer (George I), not George II and Abigail.

Henry Brewer (d. 1804) was the son of William Brewer (George I), not George II and Abigail. The name of Henry's wife is not known but he did have one proven daughter, Rebecca, who married Thomas Richardson. Their daughter Sarah (Sally) Richardson married William Brewer (1788-1867) son of James Brewer (d. 1816). George and Abigail's son Henry was married to a Cynthia.

George Brewer II and Abigail are buried on some of the property on the north side of Falling Run (just outside of the city of present day Emporia). This is proven by the sale of this property by George's son William who reserved the graveyard where his mother and father were buried. This was the land that George II left son William in his will. William appears to have left the area after this.

It appears that George II named all of his living children in his will in 1760. I have copies of all of these wills, inventories, etc.

Our family tale is that his first wife was Native American and was sent out West on the Trail of Tears, where she died. I would love any further information you might have on Arthur Brewer.
